Position Overview

The Ford Asset Instructor plays a pivotal role in the creation and delivery of accredited curriculum tailored for college and automotive manufacturers within a classroom and laboratory setting. This position requires adherence to specific training and credential standards while also supporting student recruitment and placement in relevant work-based learning opportunities.

Compensation Structure

Salary placement is determined according to Salary Schedule D1 IC-IV, ranging from $38,924 to $87,206, contingent upon educational background and professional experience. Summer appointments are based on enrollment, with compensation outlined in Salary Schedule D1, ranging from $15,105 to $33,890. The potential annual salary, including summer appointments, ranges from $54,029 to $121,096.

Key Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  1. Deliver 30-35 contact hours or 15-16 credit hours per semester, including non-credit offerings as necessary.
  2. Maintain consistent attendance and availability for teaching assignments.
  3. Facilitate off-campus classes during day, evening, and weekend sessions as required.
  4. Develop and uphold current course syllabi in alignment with institutional guidelines.
  5. Design and implement instructional programs that cater to the diverse needs and abilities of students, consistent with established curriculum.
  6. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and activities to enhance student learning.
  7. Prepare lessons based on curriculum objectives and student needs.
  8. Assess and develop Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) relevant to the instructional specialty.
  9. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the content, curriculum, and instructional methods.
  10. Organize program course offerings for each semester.
  11. Engage in student recruitment and provide guidance throughout their educational journey.
  12. Coordinate work-based learning experiences for students.
  13. Establish and engage with an Advisory Committee as per approved guidelines.
  14. Manage the program budget effectively.
  15. Oversee the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
  16. Collaborate with other programs to achieve divisional objectives.
  17. Stay informed about the institution's program of studies and its alignment with mission and goals.
  18. Update and revise courses in partnership with faculty and administrative leadership.
  19. Participate in student orientation and support activities.
  20. Contribute to divisional and institutional committees as appointed.
  21. Work with the college's ADA coordinator to ensure accommodations for students with disabilities.
  22. Maintain office hours for student consultations.
  23. Exhibit mastery in the teaching field.
  24. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree or higher from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as an automotive technician.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

Required Certifications:

  • ASE Master and L1 Certification.
  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
Physical Requirements

Work is primarily conducted in a shop environment, which may involve exposure to various elements such as noise, dust, and temperature fluctuations. The role requires physical stamina to perform tasks including walking, standing, and lifting moderate to heavy weights.
