Job Summary

Raba Kistner Inc. is a leading engineering consulting and program management firm seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Laboratory Technician to join our team in the Lafayette area. The successful candidate will be responsible for sampling, processing, and testing materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Materials Testing: Perform physical, index, and chemical construction material laboratory testing, including concrete, hot mix asphalt, soils, and aggregate testing.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Properly document hours worked and assist in client billing efforts.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform and keep documentation of routine maintenance and calibration of equipment.
  • Lab Safety and Maintenance: Maintain a neat, clean, and safe laboratory and work space.
  • Certifications and Training: Maintain relevant certifications and participate in regular review of pertinent testing methods.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Demonstrate effective working relationships with internal and external personnel.
  • Adherence to Safety Standards: Understand, adhere, and participate in the Raba Kistner Health & Safety and BBS Programs.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications: High School diploma, G.E.D., or possess at least one current relevant industry certification, such as ACI Field, ACI Concrete Strength, ACI Aggregates, TxDOT SB101, SB102, SB103, SB201, SB202, 1A or 1B, or other comparable industry certifications as required.
  • Driver's License and Insurance: Possess a valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm's auto insurability requirements.
Work Environment

The Laboratory Technician will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment with potential exposure to hazardous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease, and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration. The successful candidate must be able to implement and follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment.
