Job Overview

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The individual in this role will be responsible for clearing debris such as dirt, rocks, and tree remnants from drainage systems to ensure proper water flow and prevent blockages. This includes utilizing equipment like leaf blowers and manual tools to remove waste from sloped rooftops. The position also requires monitoring and maintaining splash blocks and tracking gutters that require repairs. All debris must be collected and disposed of appropriately upon completion of tasks.

Additionally, the role involves painting curbs using airless paint sprayers and operating both light and heavy vehicles and machinery. Maintaining an inventory of tools and ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition is essential.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:

Truck, airless paint sprayer, compressor, water blaster, high-pressure sand blaster, scaffolding, ladders, leaf blower, brushes, and rollers.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While executing the responsibilities of this position, the employee may encounter dust, dirt, solvent fumes, and various outdoor elements. Tasks may require working from heights of up to 40 feet using a man lift.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Educational background that enables the ability to read, write, and apply common sense to follow both oral and written instructions. Experience in street painting and maintenance equipment operations is preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following:

  • Understanding of job-related safety hazards and precautions.
  • Familiarity with equipment operation and associated safety measures.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands of equipment maintenance.
  • Ability to perform manual labor requiring physical strength and endurance.
  • Proficiency in reading and writing job-related instructions in English.
  • Effective communication skills in both English and Spanish.
  • Ability to foster and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and the public.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
  • Ability to pass a respiratory pulmonary function test and annual medical evaluations.
  • Successful completion of respirator fit testing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires frequent talking, hearing, seeing, and the use of hands for various tasks including grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, stooping, balancing, climbing, crouching, and lifting up to 20 lbs. Regular standing for up to 6 hours is expected, with occasional lifting of up to 100 lbs. and working at heights of up to 40 feet.

MENTAL DEMANDS:
