Key Responsibilities- Perform specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures to assist physicians in diagnosis.
- Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxieties and obtain cooperation.
- Prepare and position patients for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Adjust immobilization devices to obtain optimal views of specified body areas.
- Determine exposure factors based on patient height, weight, and body area involved.
- Operate mobile radiologic equipment in operating rooms, emergency rooms, or at patient bedsides.
- Assist radiologists and other qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and special x-ray examinations.
- Prepare images for reading by radiologists or requesting physicians.
- Process images and review for proper identification and quality control.
- Perform routine maintenance, diagnose malfunctions, and make minor repairs on radiologic equipment.
- Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation to patients and staff.
- Complete forms and maintain records, logs, and reports of work performed.
- Orient new staff and train students.
