Position Overview:
At HealthEcareers, we prioritize a holistic approach to nursing that centers on the well-being of patients and their families. The Senior Registered Nurse (RN) III embodies professional nursing as outlined by the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act and adheres to organizational standards and protocols. This role is pivotal in delivering nursing care aimed at promoting health, restoring wellness, and preventing illness and injury. The RN collaborates with the Health Care Team (HCT) and leadership to ensure the provision of high-quality, safe, effective, and efficient patient care.Key Responsibilities:
  • Employs the nursing process to evaluate patient health, establish nursing diagnoses, set nursing objectives, and formulate, implement, and assess the nursing care plan.
  • Completes patient encounters and addresses care discrepancies.
  • Documents patient information, actions, interventions, and treatment responses in accordance with established protocols.
  • Assists in medical procedures and monitors patient reactions during and post-procedure.
  • Actively engages with patients, families, and caregivers as part of the healthcare team to coordinate patient care.
  • Leads nursing responses to urgent medical situations.
  • Manages electronic communications related to patient or provider inquiries and triages as necessary.
  • Initiates and oversees IV therapy, medication administration, and other nursing tasks as directed by the physician or associate practitioner, documenting actions appropriately.
  • Evaluates the health education needs of patients and families, provides necessary teaching and counseling, and assesses the effectiveness of educational efforts.
  • Conducts follow-up calls to patients requiring additional care and preventive outreach.
  • Engages in quality improvement initiatives and activities.
  • Participates in the orientation, training, and competency assessment of new staff (post-completion of validator training).
  • Leads performance improvement initiatives at the departmental or regional level (access, quality, service, personnel).
  • Independently performs procedures under provider supervision and assesses patient responses during and after these procedures.
  • Acts as a preceptor, resource, and mentor for new healthcare team members and nursing students.
  • Delivers at least one (1) training in-service annually.
  • Pursues and completes formal continuing education relevant to the clinical specialty.
  • Utilizes advanced skills to deliver patient care, education, and consultation.
  • Independently performs procedures under physician supervision, including cardiac stress tests, RN sonography, conscious sedation, or chemotherapy infusions.
  • May undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.
Basic Qualifications: Experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of current clinical RN experience.
  • At least two (2) years of clinical experience in a specialized area.
Education
  • Associate's degree in nursing.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Registered Professional Nurse License (Georgia) required upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support certification required upon hire from the American Heart Association.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification required upon hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • ACC/CDU: Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required at hire or within six months.
  • Infusion Services: Biotherapy/Chemotherapy Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Specialty Certification required at hire or within one (1) year.
  • Bachelor's (BSN) degree.
