The role of Manager of Risk Management in Commercial Banking is crucial for integrating specialized risk and control professionals into the First Line Units. These professionals will aid in fulfilling the responsibilities outlined in the Risk Management Framework, enhance overall risk awareness, and disseminate best practices regarding controls among Commercial Banking colleagues. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting Risk and Control Self-assessments across all Commercial business lines to identify and evaluate existing and potential risks.
  • Managing issues and remediation efforts, including the self-identification and reporting of insufficient controls.
  • Overseeing and tracking risk metrics within the line of business.
  • Documenting and reporting on risk acceptances.
  • Providing training and communication related to risks and controls.
  • Executing and supporting control testing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the execution, quality assurance, and reporting of the enterprise risk program.
  • Support and develop the participation of Commercial Banking in Risk Control Self-Assessments (RCSA), focusing on process definition, control identification, procedural completeness, risk rating, and testing/quality control opportunities.
  • Drive effective Issue Management protocols within Commercial Banking, ensuring proper documentation, risk rating of issues, and timely completion of remediation actions.
  • Lead the execution of the SOX control program, ensuring controls are well-documented, understood by control owners, executed timely and effectively managed.
  • Participate in the creation, collection, and reporting of various risk/control/performance metrics related to Commercial Banking.
  • Conduct and document thorough testing across a diverse range of control activities and deliverables, communicating results to all stakeholders.
  • Develop action plans with senior leadership to address any identified deficiencies.
  • Assist in preparing reports for senior management and executive committees regarding risk program outcomes, unmitigated risks, and strategies for mitigation, as well as supporting regulatory examination preparations.
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of business risks, both current and emerging.
  • Provide support for special projects and initiatives as necessary.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
  • Experience in operational risk management, enterprise risk management, or auditing is essential; project management and banking experience are preferred.
  • Ability to manage and execute multiple complex projects within established timelines is required.
  • High level of professionalism and the ability to effectively influence and build relationships across the organization.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar risk and control function, whether in the first, second, or third line of defense.
  • Significant experience in Commercial Banking Risk or a related financial services field is essential.
  • Experience with SOX testing is a plus.
The estimated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $100,000. Actual salary may vary based on job-related factors, including knowledge, skills, experience, and location. This position is also eligible for incentive compensation.
