Position: Component Engineer
Location: On-site
Contract Type: W2 and C2C options available
Interview Process: Initial video call followed by a face-to-face meeting.
The Component Engineer plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between project teams, component manufacturers, and the supply chain. This position requires extensive knowledge of electronic components and their failure modes, particularly in high-reliability environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Researching and identifying new technology components, including SOC/IC, while staying informed on industry advancements.
- Matching technologies to specific hardware requirements and environmental conditions.
- Creating and implementing qualification plans for new or untested technologies aimed at high-reliability applications.
- Collaborating with internal and external failure analysis labs to determine root causes of failures and advising product teams accordingly.
- Facilitating communication among technology product teams, supply chain, and related technology groups.
- Guiding design engineers in selecting electronic components based on performance criteria and application environments.
- Conducting obsolescence reviews for current designs.
- Evaluating quality test reports for packaged components and dies.
- Providing technical support to contracted testing laboratories and manufacturers.
Employees or contractors may be assigned additional duties as needed, and responsibilities may evolve based on the company's requirements.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics Engineering, or a related field.
- In-depth knowledge of component failure modes, reliability, and specifications.
- Familiarity with basic hardware circuit board design.
- Understanding of passive components, microcircuits, hybrids, semiconductors, and discrete device fabrication.
- Experience with components used in high-reliability and specialized environments.
- Knowledge of accelerated reliability testing and component failure analysis.
- Proficiency in Cadence PSpice, LabView, and/or Python is advantageous.
- Experience with various test equipment, including power supplies, ovens, LCR meters, DMMs, and oscilloscopes.
- Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.
