Assistant General Manager Job Description

Highgate Hotels is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our team. As a key member of our hotel management team, you will be responsible for driving hotel profitability through revenue generation, cost control, and guest satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top clients, meeting with on-site contacts, and hosting events.
  • Tour operating departments daily to ensure efficient operations and make adjustments as needed.
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions and review of sales and operations efforts.
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely manner.
  • Hold monthly financial reviews with department managers and ensure budgeted productivity levels are maintained.
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored programs.
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled and maintain direct contact with management trainees.
  • Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and procedures and train new managers to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee and assist in the hotel budget process as required.
  • Ensure training in service standards is taking place in each department and maintain a positive team-oriented environment.
Requirements:
  • At least 5-6 years progressive experience in a hotel.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Long hours, weekends, and nights required.
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
