Position Summary:
The Student Affairs department is looking for a dedicated Health Promotion & Education Coordinator to enhance the wellness culture within our student community. Reporting to the Student Wellness Manager, this role focuses on designing, executing, and assessing programs aimed at elevating health literacy, attitudes, and behaviors among students. The Coordinator will facilitate health education initiatives to address both immediate and long-term health requirements of students through workshops, outreach, and training sessions. We seek a compassionate individual who can effectively connect with students, advocate for their needs, and translate strategic wellness plans into actionable programs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Planning and Coordination:
- Foster a culture of wellness through inclusivity and health equity for all students.
- Implement evidence-based initiatives to enhance student wellness awareness and behaviors, targeting health disparities.
2. Development of Initiatives:
- Create and launch innovative programs and services tailored to the diverse needs of the student body, emphasizing resilience and promoting healthy lifestyles.
- Research and develop educational workshops on various health topics to address the unique challenges faced by different student demographics.
3. Collaboration and Service Coordination:
- Assess and enhance student wellness services through comprehensive surveys and feedback mechanisms.
- Collaborate with campus committees focused on student wellness initiatives.
4. Monitoring and Reporting:
- Maintain strong partnerships with students, faculty, and community organizations to promote wellness resources and lifestyle changes.
- Ensure timely documentation and reporting of student data to inform decision-making processes.
- Support the overall success of the college's health and wellness initiatives by fulfilling additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Minimum: Bachelor's Degree in public health education, psychology, social work, student affairs, nursing, or a related field.
- Two years of experience in health education or related program facilitation.
Preferred:
- Master's Degree in health education or a related field with one year of professional experience in health communication or education.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Familiarity with relevant laws and best practices related to health education.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to engage in prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Occasional travel may be required.
Other Requirements:
- A valid state driver's license is necessary.
