The Revenue Accounting Manager holds a pivotal leadership position, overseeing the corporate revenue accounting operations at 6sense. This senior role entails establishing and managing policies, implementing and maintaining operations that support GAAP and management reporting, conducting financial analyses, and collaborating with various departments to ensure precise revenue recognition and adherence to internal policies and accounting standards. This position reports directly to the SVP of Corporate Finance and the Chief Accounting Officer.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Formulate and uphold revenue and bookings policies, technical documents, and whitepapers. Design and execute operational strategies and controls to ensure effective revenue recognition and accounting practices. Partner with executive leadership to synchronize corporate revenue objectives with broader company goals. Financial Reporting: Supervise the timely and accurate preparation of SSP establishment, testing, and periodic reviews of Performance Obligation allocations, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards. Act as a key stakeholder in product and system launches, providing proactive technical accounting and operational insights. Participate in M&A activities during due diligence and integration phases. Team Management: Guide and mentor a team of professionals in order management, revenue operations, revenue accounting, billing, collections, and corporate revenue reporting, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment. Offer support on complex issues and ensure comprehensive training for team members. Process Management and Optimization: Develop, maintain, and oversee standard operating procedures, controls, training, and approved templates for the revenue team. Catalog and manage use cases, including standard and non-standard sales motions, commercial sales strategies, and professional services offerings, to enhance UAT, regression testing, and operational efficiency. Continuously assess and refine revenue accounting processes to boost efficiency and accuracy, implementing best practices and staying informed on changes in accounting regulations affecting revenue recognition. Lead Transformation Initiatives: Spearhead the Order-to-Cash transformation initiative by identifying enhancements, securing stakeholder support, drafting requirements, and managing change processes. Oversee revenue operations in close collaboration with deal desk, renewals teams, and broader finance functions to ensure orders are ready for processing and meet all compliance requirements. Customer Experience Management: Advocate for a superior customer experience, manage risks, and drive improvements in the cash conversion cycle. Performance Monitoring: Regularly publish insightful performance dashboards covering compliance, volumes, accuracy, and key business metrics. A strong understanding of KPIs such as bookings (ACV/ARR), NRR, GRR, and de-bookings is essential. Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with departments such as Product, Engineering, Partnerships, Sales, Legal, Pricing, and broader Finance to ensure alignment in revenue recognition policies and procedures. Work with external auditors to facilitate the audit process. Compliance and Risk Management: Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulations to ensure organizational compliance. Evaluate and mitigate risks associated with revenue recognition. Relationship Building: Cultivate trusting relationships with sales and IT business partners, engaging key stakeholders in regular communication. Share insights on business trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement. Operational Expertise Development: Enhance team expertise in leveraging CRM and Sage Intacct ERP platforms. Collaborate with IT to introduce and implement complementary technologies to achieve organizational goals.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting is required; CPA certification is preferred. A minimum of 12 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting for subscription/SaaS and consumption-based models, with at least 7 years in a leadership capacity. Public accounting audit experience is a significant advantage. Extensive knowledge of revenue recognition principles, corporate policies, accounting standards (ASC 606), internal controls, and financial reporting. A deeper understanding of the interaction between CPQ and ERP systems.

Base Salary Range: $197,664 to $270,000. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors such as work location and experience. The base salary is one component of 6sense's total compensation package, which may also include bonuses, commission plans, and stock options, subject to approval by 6sense's board.
