Job Summary:


The Library Media Technician will assist the Librarian in providing supplementary/supportive services to the students, staff, and parents of the Tempe Union High School District. This is a paraprofessional position in library media services requiring a variety of interpersonal, technological, and administrative skills. The successful candidate will focus on meeting the informational, technological, and instructional needs of the staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Librarian in maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Provide technical support for library media services, including cataloging and processing materials.
  • Develop and implement programs to promote literacy and a love of reading among students.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library media services into the curriculum.
  • Provide customer service to students, staff, and parents, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in a similar role preferred.
  • One year of experience working directly with students in a high school setting, such as a classroom aide, volunteer, student work experience, or supervisor, preferred.
  • Associate degree in Library Science preferred.

Working Conditions:
The Library Media Technician will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, interacting with students, staff, and parents on a regular basis.
