About the Role:

This Software Engineer position plays an integral role in a dynamic, impactful development process at Harvard University. In this role, you will engage in every aspect of the software development life cycle; from gathering client requirements and designing robust software architecture to implementing both backend and client-side code. You'll also be actively involved in builds and deployments, handling releases, quality assurance, creating technical documentation and troubleshooting to ensure seamless operations and the successful delivery of our services.

Benefits and Perks:

The university provides a competitive salary ($124,500 per year), commensurate with experience, and additional compensation in the form of bonuses or overtime pay based on performance. As an employee, you'll have access to various benefits, including 3-4 weeks of accrued vacation time per year, 12 accrued sick days per year, 12.5 holidays plus a Winter Recess in December/January, 3 personal days per year (prorated based on date of hire), up to 12 weeks of paid leave for new parents who are primary caregivers, child care resources, Employee Assistance Program, wellness programs related to stress management, nutrition, meditation, and more. There are also opportunities for professional development, including programs and classes at little or no cost.

Requirements and Qualifications:

To be considered for this role, you must have a minimum of five years' post-secondary education or relevant work experience. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field is preferred. Familiarity with AWS or other cloud platforms, proficiency in Python, building web-delivered applications using modern platforms, frameworks, and patterns, experience with Web Services, API Integration, databases, front-end frameworks such as React or Vue, Jupyter Notebooks, Open OnDemand, High-Performance Computing (HPC) systems, automated testing, AI technologies, and WCAG accessibility standards are required. You should be able to work well under pressure, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
