Job Description

The Medical University of South Carolina is seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Scholar in Human Factors and Ergonomics to join our team. As a key member of our research group, you will contribute to the development and implementation of human factors knowledge and techniques in clinical settings.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply human factors expertise to research and evaluation projects, conducting user trials, task analyses, interviews, and direct observation of clinical work.
  • Advocate for human factors considerations in root cause analysis and quality improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with a broad range of collaborators to deliver research in human factors, patient safety, and quality improvement in healthcare.
  • Identify opportunities for publications and research funding, analyze and present data, and prepare abstracts and manuscripts for dissemination.
Requirements:
  • PhD in industrial/organizational psychology, human factors, human sciences, ergonomics, or engineering.
  • Eligibility for membership in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society or other organization affiliated with the International Ergonomics Association.
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and adapt to evolving needs.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, quickly develop and maintain productive relationships with team members, and complete work assignments accurately and timely.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required.
