About the Role
The Medical University of South Carolina seeks a skilled Human Factors Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for improving patient safety and efficiency in healthcare through the application of human factors knowledge and techniques. Job Description
The successful candidate will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, staff, and administrators, to design and implement clinical systems that prioritize patient safety and efficiency. You will conduct research and evaluation projects, applying human factors expertise and user-centered design principles to identify areas for improvement. This will involve conducting user trials, task analyses, interviews, stakeholder interactions, and direct observation of clinical work.
Key Responsibilities

• Advocates for applies human factors considerations to root cause analysis and quality improvement projects.
Requirements
We are seeking a candidate with a PhD in industrial/organizational psychology, human factors, human sciences, ergonomics, or engineering. You should be eligible for membership of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society or other organization affiliated with the International Ergonomics Association. The successful candidate will have excellent oral and interpersonal skills, be willing to develop written communication skills, and have the ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and adapt to evolving needs.
What We Offer
The Medical University of South Carolina offers a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $105,000 per year, depending on experience.
