Job Responsibilities:

Position Objective:
The role involves executing a variety of skilled and intricate tasks related to the upkeep and repair of operational equipment linked to wastewater and reuse treatment systems, ensuring compliance with established protocols to maintain their functionality.

Key Duties:

  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of pumps, motors, blowers, mechanical and electrical drives, electronic process controls, and instrumentation. Ensure accurate updates of both manual and computerized records concerning work activities.
  • Safely confirm that circuits are de-energized. Conduct basic circuit checks for shorts, opens, and ground faults using a multi-meter. Perform continuity and resistance checks on relay coils, contacts, overloads, fuses, circuit breakers, switches, and other control circuit components.
  • Interpret and analyze simple ladder and schematic diagrams.
  • Evaluate single-phase power distribution systems for correct wiring. Utilize a Megohmmeter for resistance testing. Troubleshoot Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
  • Operate and maintain motor vehicles, hand tools, power tools, and various testing equipment.
  • Install motor/pump couplings and manage the repair and replacement of chemical feed pumps, controllers, and piping.
  • Troubleshoot vacuum-assisted sewage systems, including valve programming and pump operation. Diagnose and repair flow control valves and meters.
  • Manage Programmable Logic Controller systems and communication systems.
  • Understand OSHA requirements for working on water/wastewater systems and determine necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Assist operators at water and wastewater treatment facilities to ensure preventive maintenance schedules are fulfilled by operating staff.
  • Maintain accurate records of work activities in both manual and computerized formats.
  • Conduct inspections of equipment in the field or shop to assess repair needs or estimate repair costs; suggest necessary modifications to systems, procedures, and equipment; communicate the status of repair, maintenance, or fabrication work.
Work Environment:
  • Employees may be exposed to various outdoor weather conditions, including high temperatures.
  • The noise level in the workplace is typically moderate.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
A High School Diploma or GED is required, along with four years of journey-level experience demonstrating the knowledge and ability to service, maintain, and repair equipment.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate electric motors powered by gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuels, as well as paint, welding, and fabrication equipment. Knowledge of maintenance for pumps, valves, compressors, engines, electronics, buildings, tanks, and water distribution systems is essential. Strong communication skills are necessary to interact with team members, management, clients, and vendors in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing. Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with safety procedures in maintenance and operations are required. The ability to interpret work from sketches, schematic drawings, and other diagrams, as well as follow written and verbal instructions, is crucial. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also necessary.

Certifications:
A valid driver's license is required, and specialized training courses are preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May regularly lift 10-20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include the ability to distinguish colors, close vision, and distance vision.
