Job Overview

Position Summary

Howard Search Group is seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Operations Manager for a full-time role in a Food Processing Plant. The primary focus will be on the planning and supervision of a new production area and line setup, along with essential facility enhancements. Following the completion of these improvements, the Production Operations Manager will play a key role in recruiting personnel necessary for initiating manufacturing processes. This role is critical in ensuring that product output aligns with or surpasses operational efficiency and quality benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and drive the overall performance of manufacturing operations and resources for designated production lines; provide mentorship and guidance to other leaders responsible for shift outcomes.
  • Promote a Safety-First culture by encouraging employee involvement and demonstrating a commitment to safety on a daily basis.
  • Exemplify and advocate for practices that guarantee the delivery of high-quality products to customers while ensuring adherence to company policies and local regulations.
  • Set and monitor key performance indicators, holding accountability for budgetary decisions related to production lines.
  • Analyze, track, and continuously enhance key performance metrics.
  • Establish financial performance targets in areas such as Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), labor efficiency, downtime, production rates, and material consumption.
  • Directly manage the team and oversee staffing processes.
  • Ensure team members are adequately trained and fully understand their roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations.
  • Provide timely coaching, feedback, and support to team members.
  • Take personal responsibility for consistently achieving or exceeding manufacturing performance standards and serve as a recognized expert in delivering key performance metrics while training and developing others.
  • Lead efforts during audits and site evaluations for both internal and external stakeholders as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, including Lockout/Tagout procedures, safety protocols, and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Guarantee that the facility operates in accordance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, as well as maintaining necessary certifications such as Kosher, Organic, or SQF.

Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of five years of experience in Food Manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with SQF, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Food Safety standards is preferred.
  • Understanding of food pumps and liquid filling machinery.
  • Mechanically inclined with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication abilities; bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding food manufacturing environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential.
  • Experience operating forklifts.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
