Position Overview:

Under the guidance of a custodial supervisor, the full-time evening custodian is responsible for the thorough cleaning and upkeep of designated facilities.

This role includes overseeing and mentoring part-time and student custodial staff to ensure effective cleaning and maintenance of campus environments.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform custodial maintenance of assigned facilities.
  • Maintain floors through various cleaning methods including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, waxing, and carpet shampooing, as well as addressing pool and wet areas as necessary.
  • Ensure restrooms are cleaned and stocked using appropriate cleaning agents.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of building entrances and surrounding areas, including trash collection and removal of debris.
  • Dispose of waste from facilities and exterior bins.
  • Wash walls, chalkboards/whiteboards, and furniture, removing stains and marks.
  • Clean windows and window frames; replace interior and exterior lights as required.
  • Coordinate cleaning schedules with building operations and report any issues to relevant authorities.
  • Assist with minor repairs and collaborate with skilled personnel for specialized tasks.
  • Help in moving heavy equipment and furniture as needed.
  • Supervise and train part-time and student custodians in their duties and safe practices.
  • Identify custodial needs and implement solutions.
  • Participate in special projects as directed by the supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent GED is required.

A minimum of two years of relevant experience is necessary.

Ability to work evening shifts is essential.

Basic computer skills, including word processing and email, are required.

Familiarity with custodial tools and equipment, such as industrial vacuums and floor scrubbers, is preferred.

Experience in cleaning specialized environments is advantageous.

Strong supervisory and training skills are necessary to guide part-time and student employees.

Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for effective collaboration.

Dependability, reliability, and a proactive attitude are key attributes.

Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds is required; a physical exam and drug testing may be necessary.


Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time, non-exempt position eligible for overtime. The annual salary is $35,200, with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and retirement plans, as well as paid holidays and leave accruals.
