Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodial Worker to join our team at Melwood Veterans Services. As a Custodial Worker, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of our facilities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for our employees and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sweep and Mop: Sweep and mop hallways, stairs, and offices to maintain a clean and tidy environment.
  • Trash and Recycling: Empty wastebaskets and dispose of trash in the prescribed manner.
  • Dusting and Polishing: Dust horizontal surfaces, polish kick panels, doorknobs, and other designated fixtures.
  • Cleaning Bathrooms: Clean bathrooms, including sinks, toilets, and showers.
  • Floor Care: Wax and buff floors with prescribed buffers, and strip and wax floors as needed.
  • Special Tasks: Perform special tasks as assigned by the Custodial Foreman, including vacuuming rugs and mixing cleaning solutions.
Requirements
  • Physical Qualifications: Must be able to stand 80% of the work time, walk 15%, and sit 5%. Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds.
  • Qualifications: Must have six months training or experience, and be capable of performing the essential functions of the job.
Working Conditions

The incumbent will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
