Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Therapist 3 to join our team at Danbury/New Milford Hospital. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing critical and lab assessments of cardiopulmonary patients, recommending and administering oxygen therapy, pharmacological agents, bronchial hygiene, airway, and ventilator care.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage Ventilator/Rounding protocol, helping MD to assess cardiopulmonary status and reducing length of patient's stay on ventilator and in Intensive Care Unit.
  • Make assessment of patient's cardiopulmonary compromise, treating hypoxia/bronchospasm with proper modality such as O2/Bronchodilators.
  • Draw arterial blood gases, analyze and make recommendations for therapy or change in therapy.
  • Perform non-invasive mask ventilation (BIPAP/CPAP).
  • Manage neonate and surgical patients on ventilators.
  • Educate patients on state of disease and change to home regime to reduce re-admission.
  • Respond to trauma alerts, code green, code 33, and code blue; attend to and stabilize patients.
  • Transport ventilator patients.
  • Enter charges and changes for each patient served into computer, documenting per department standards.
  • Attend mandatory inservices & department meetings per PEP standards.
  • Assist in orientation and education of new staff.
  • Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
