Position Overview:

The mission of International Leadership of Texas is to cultivate students for outstanding leadership roles in the global community through a focus on servant leadership, mastery of English, Spanish, and Chinese languages, and the enhancement of mental, physical, and character development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Educational Leadership: Foster students' understanding and appreciation of music by exposing them to a diverse array of musical genres, periods, and styles. Identify and nurture each student's unique talents in both vocal and instrumental music.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
    • Valid teaching certification in Texas with necessary endorsements or training for the subject and level
    • Demonstrated proficiency in the core academic subject area

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Expertise in curriculum development and instructional strategies
  • Ability to effectively instruct and manage student behavior
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal abilities

Experience:

  • Preferred one year of student teaching or an approved internship

Major Duties:

  • Instructional Strategies:
  • Design and implement lesson plans that align with district curriculum requirements, ensuring evidence of preparation is documented. Tailor lessons to accommodate individual student differences.
  • Utilize appropriate instructional methods, activities, materials, and technology that reflect an understanding of students' diverse learning styles and needs, adhering to guidelines set by the Texas Education Agency and district policies.
  • Assess student learning styles and leverage results to inform instructional planning.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to adapt curricula for students with special needs, following Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work alongside colleagues to establish instructional goals and methods that meet district standards.
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to instructional aides and volunteers.

Student Development:

  • Conduct ongoing assessments of student progress through both formal and informal evaluations.
  • Take charge of extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved outside initiatives.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students, supporting the mission of the school district.

Classroom Management:

  • Create a learning environment that is conducive to the physical, social, and emotional growth of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure the safety of students, equipment, and materials.
  • Assist in the selection of instructional materials and resources.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.

Communication:

  • Establish and uphold professional relationships and open lines of communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.

Professional Development:

  • Engage in staff development opportunities to enhance job-related skills.
  • Adhere to state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Participate in faculty meetings and contribute to staff committees as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the work of assigned instructional aides.

Mental and Physical Demands:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and standard instructional equipment.
  • Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling, bending, and walking.
  • Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds).
  • Environment: Work indoors with potential outdoor activities; regular exposure to noise.
  • Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress; work irregular hours as necessary.
