We are seeking a highly skilled Epidemiologist I to join our team at the Texas Department of Aging & Disability Services. As a key member of our TB and Hansen's Disease Unit, you will be responsible for performing epidemiological work, developing and implementing data quality checks, and analyzing surveillance data to inform public health policy and practice.
Key Responsibilities:- Monitor and evaluate TB and HD data systems for quality and completeness of case reporting.
- Provide technical assistance to field TB programs and central office surveillance and local registry staff to promote and support surveillance activities.
- Design surveillance program tracking and quality assurance measures for TB reporting in NEDSS.
- Analyze health-related data using statistical analysis software and produce evaluation study reports, epidemiological reports, and articles.
- Contribute to epidemiological reports disseminated to the Department of State Health Services, the public, and medical communities.
- Knowledge of the principles of epidemiology, research design, research methods, and sampling.
- Knowledge of survey design and administration, descriptive and analytical statistics, and scientific and technical writing.
- Skilled in using software for Internet browsing, email, spreadsheets (Excel), SAS, and other statistical software.
- Ability to gather, assemble, manage, analyze, and interpret data, and work effectively as a team with diverse personnel, groups, and organizations.
This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, communicate effectively, and manage research projects involving multiple organizations and personnel.
