Job Summary

The University of Maryland Medical System is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Oncology Program Operations to oversee the administrative and operational aspects of the Oncology Program. This key leadership role will ensure the efficient and effective delivery of oncology services to patients while supporting clinical staff and promoting excellent patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and manage administrative operations of the Oncology Program, including personnel, budgeting, and finance.
  • Provide oversight of the Wellness and Support Center Program, including coordination and implementation of support groups, program development, and daily operations.
  • Monitor and maintain quality standards in oncology care delivery, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational protocols.
  • Collaborate with administration, clinical teams, and external stakeholders to facilitate seamless coordination of patient care.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient patient flow, quality patient care, and compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Plan and oversee space utilization, reconfigurations, and renovations, identifying potential shared resources between departments.
  • Ensure knowledge dissemination and full compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform HR functions, including hiring, supervising, disciplining, and providing general oversight of staff.
  • Align department goals with the Annual Operating Plan and ensure regular quality monitoring and reporting to the Oncology Clinical Service Line Council.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Nursing, or a related discipline; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Prior experience in a Cancer Center strongly preferred.
  • Ten (10) years' experience in healthcare, healthcare administration, business operations, or a related field, with five (5) years of progressive management experience in a large physician practice setting or hospital operations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills, ability to provide leadership in a matrixed work environment, problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and financial management.
  • Demonstrated expertise with computer systems, data analysis, and reporting.
  • Ability to supervise, coach, and motivate the performance of direct reports.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills.
