Job Overview:

Under the supervision of the Vice Chancellor for Business & Financial Services, the Budget Analyst plays a crucial role in the strategic planning, coordination, and oversight of the District's financial resources. This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing complex financial data, ensuring accurate budgetary assessments, and monitoring the allocation of resources.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the formulation and management of the District's annual budget.
  • Conduct detailed financial analysis and reporting to support decision-making processes.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of financial transactions and historical data.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare documentation for financial presentations to stakeholders.
  • Oversee grant budgets and ensure adherence to contractual obligations.
  • Support the fiscal year-end closing process, including reconciliation of accounts.
  • Evaluate and process budget transfers and expenditure requests.

Qualifications:

Education: A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, public administration, or a related field is required. Equivalent experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Experience: A minimum of five years of relevant experience in a financial role, preferably within an educational institution, with a focus on budget development and financial analysis.


Knowledge and Skills:
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in financial software and spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to perform complex quantitative analysis and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
