Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced bus driver to join our team at Bloomington, MN Public Schools. As a Standby Driver, you will be responsible for driving students safely and efficiently to and from school, as well as providing excellent customer service to parents, staff, and the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Driving: Drive any route, anytime, in any bus as directed by Dispatch, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
  • Route Familiarization: Familiarize yourself with route copies and follow driving directions to ensure accurate and efficient transportation.
  • Time Management: Report on time for all assigned duties and be punctual in your daily schedule.
  • Training and Support: Ride with new drivers to teach them the route(s) and provide guidance and support as needed.
  • Customer Service: Deliver outstanding service to students, parents, school staff, office staff, mechanics, fellow drivers, and assistants, demonstrating a positive and professional attitude.
  • Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions, adhering to the highest standards of conduct.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all rules, laws, and policies set by the Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Bloomington School District.
  • Communication: Communicate any performance issues to the Management Staff, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Inclement Weather: Assist mechanics during inclement weather by moving buses as directed by Dispatch.
  • Pre-Trip Inspections: Pre-trip buses daily as directed by Dispatch, ensuring vehicles are safe and ready for operation.

Requirements:

  • License and Experience: Possess a valid CDL Class B driver's license with passenger and school bus endorsements, with at least one year of driving experience.
  • Previous Experience with Children: Previous experience working with children is a plus.
