The Sous Chef is a key member of our culinary team, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. This individual will oversee the supervision of all cooks, prep and pantry personnel, and all culinary activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in menu development and execution, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities- Menu Development and Execution: Assist in creating and implementing menus that meet the high standards of Dickie Brennan & Company.
- Culinary Operations: Oversee the preparation and presentation of all menu items, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Staff Supervision: Supervise and train cooks, prep and pantry personnel, and other kitchen staff to ensure they are meeting the company's standards.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels, including ordering and receiving supplies, to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
- Food Safety and Sanitation: Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
- Team Leadership: Foster a positive and productive team environment, promoting open communication and collaboration among kitchen staff.
- Cost Control: Work with the executive chef to develop and implement cost-saving strategies, ensuring the kitchen operates within budget.
- Quality Control: Monitor and maintain high-quality standards in all kitchen operations, including food preparation, presentation, and service.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; some college or culinary degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in a progressive culinary role, preferably in a high-volume and/or fine dining restaurant.
- Certifications: ServSafe certification required (can be received in-house).
- Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform other physical demands of a kitchen environment.
