Position Title: Faculty Member in Nutrition and Dietetics

Overview of Responsibilities

  • Oversee the ACEND accredited graduate program, ensuring effective supervised experiential learning (SEL), assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Employ diverse assessment strategies to guarantee the achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with various instructional delivery systems and methods, including online education, social media, and portfolios, to provide educational content and opportunities grounded in evidence-based research and personal expertise.
  • Be knowledgeable about the accreditation standards of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Department Chair, Associate Dean for Academic Programs, fellow Program Directors, faculty, and other academic units, as well as with local agencies and service providers.
  • Provide student advisement, maintain office hours, and conduct course evaluations with appropriate corrective measures.
  • Contribute to the institution's mission through outreach and engagement with students, Cooperative Extension, and key community stakeholders.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Utilize a variety of assessment techniques to ensure achievement of student learning outcomes.
  • Show familiarity with diverse instructional delivery methods, including online learning, social media, and portfolios to provide educational content and opportunities supported by evidence-based research and individual expertise.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Blackboard and Banner systems.
  • Prepare comprehensive course syllabi, including approved student learning objectives and outcome evaluation forms.
  • Understand the ACEND accreditation standards for Nutrition and Dietetics at the baccalaureate level.
  • Work collaboratively with the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD), Department Chair, Associate Dean of Academic Programs, faculty, and other academic units to effectively address local and national program priorities related to professional Nutrition and Dietetics practice, particularly in community health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Provide student advisement, maintain office hours, and conduct course evaluations with appropriate corrective measures.
  • Engage in outreach and community engagement aligned with the institution's mission.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possess a terminal degree (PhD or DCN).
  • Registered Nutritionist and Dietitian (RDN) or Registered Dietitian (RD).
  • Eligible for licensure in the relevant jurisdictions.
  • RDN-AP certification or DCN degree.
  • Have a minimum of five years of advanced clinical experience in a healthcare setting - Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC certified or eligible for certification within a year).
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Demonstrate a proven record in teaching, research, program planning, and problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn about the urban land-grant university system and its dual mission of academic excellence and community outreach.

Qualifications for Associate Professor

  • Hold an earned doctorate or the highest appropriate credential in the field of specialization, or possess experience and achievements comparable to the doctorate.
  • Maintain a record of scholarship and professional development.
  • Have at least five years of full-time teaching experience in higher education, including three years as an Assistant Professor. Community college experience is preferred. Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal teaching experience when necessary.

Qualifications for Assistant Professor

  • Possess an appropriate terminal degree or agree to complete this degree within a specified timeframe as outlined in the initial contract.
  • Have at least three years of full-time teaching experience, including two years in higher education.
  • Relevant professional experience may substitute for formal teaching experience when necessary. Candidates with limited formal teaching experience must demonstrate verifiable potential for effective teaching.
