Position Summary

As a Carvel Sales Route Representative, you will take full charge of delivering high-quality products directly to our supermarket clients. This role encompasses all facets of customer service, product management, merchandising, and effective communication.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales and Customer Engagement: Promote and sell all products to relevant accounts while accurately applying Carvel pricing strategies, including promotional offers.
  • Establish and nurture positive relationships with supermarket staff, swiftly addressing any product or service issues to ensure outstanding customer satisfaction.
  • Implement merchandising standards and objectives at designated accounts, driving sales through strategic promotions and displays.
  • Maintain precise records of all transactions utilizing handheld computing devices.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on supermarket freezers.

Product Management and Logistics:

  • Oversee and accurately monitor inventory levels.
  • Ensure safety by performing pre-trip safety and maintenance inspections.
  • Efficiently load and unload products from the delivery vehicle.
  • Rotate products and keep supermarket Carvel freezers organized.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Maintain consistent communication with the manufacturing team.
  • Collaborate with the District Sales Manager to utilize data for accurate sales forecasting.
  • Complete product ordering and related paperwork to maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in grocery, retail, food service, or related fields, preferably in direct sales or customer service roles.
  • Valid CDL Class B License preferred (must obtain within 30 days of employment) and a clean driving record.
  • Self-motivated with strong decision-making capabilities.
  • Punctual and dependable in attendance.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficient in general computer, mathematical, and analytical skills.
  • Must be 21 years or older.
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Driving responsibilities while adhering to all traffic regulations and maintaining full DOT compliance.
  • Maintaining required DOT medical certification.
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods daily.
  • Frequent walking, including multiple trips between the truck and store.
  • Regular climbing in and out of the company vehicle and using ladders/stairs safely.
  • Routine lifting of items not exceeding 55 pounds.
  • Walking and maneuvering products in various customer locations while navigating vehicle traffic.
  • Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions and refrigerated environments.
  • Company-provided uniform and safety footwear are mandatory.
  • Ability to push product carts weighing up to 450 pounds when fully loaded.
  • Must maintain alertness and be prepared for long hours, typically starting early in the morning.
