Your primary responsibilities will include the implementation and reinforcement of safety protocols and procedures aimed at minimizing workplace risks and fostering a culture of safety excellence through effective coaching and leadership.

Key Duties:

1. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all applicable safety regulations, codes, and standards, including OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, and other relevant requirements.

2. Policy Formulation: Support the creation, execution, and upkeep of safety policies, procedures, and programs tailored to the commercial roofing sector.

3. Training Coordination: Organize safety training sessions and programs for employees and subcontractors, encompassing new hire orientation, ongoing training, and certification initiatives.

4. Hazard Assessment: Perform regular inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, implement necessary corrective actions, and document findings through the company’s application.

5. Incident Analysis: Oversee investigations into workplace accidents, near misses, and safety incidents to ascertain root causes and propose preventive strategies.

6. Safety Communication: Lead safety meetings, toolbox talks, and other communication methods to enhance awareness and understanding of safety-related matters and initiatives.

7. Record Keeping: Maintain precise records of safety-related information, including incident reports, training documentation, and safety performance metrics.

8. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and sustain emergency response plans and procedures to manage potential emergencies such as falls, fires, severe weather, and chemical spills.

9. Safety Culture Promotion: Encourage a positive safety culture by engaging employees, recognizing contributions, and fostering participation in safety initiatives.

10. Documentation Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in drafting Site-Specific Safety Plans, Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), toolbox talks, stand-downs, incident reports, and corrective action plans.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of OSHA 30 Hour Construction Certification.
  • Reliable vehicle required for travel to various project sites.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field is preferred.
  • Certification as a Health and Safety Technician (CHST) or similar is preferred.
  • OSHA 510 Construction certification is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in safety coordination and training, ideally within the construction or roofing industry.
  • Strong understanding of incident investigation and root cause analysis.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety standards, regulations, and best practices, particularly in fall protection, rigging, hazard communication, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.

Compensation: $26 to $32/hour based on experience.
