Job Summary

Midland States Bank is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortgage Loan Originator to join our team. As a key member of our residential lending team, you will be responsible for developing relationships with referral partners, soliciting business, and originating family residential loans within predetermined guidelines and rates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Development: Develop and maintain relationships with referral partners, including realtors, builders, bank colleagues, attorneys, and CPAs, to identify and pursue new business opportunities.
  • Loan Origination: Collect and analyze prospect financial information, including income, assets, and liabilities, to advise on the most appropriate mortgage products and services.
  • Customer Service: Respond to customer residential mortgage needs, provide assistance to help potential borrowers qualify for financing, and deliver best-in-class customer service.
  • Volume and Unit Production: Consistently achieve volume and/or unit production targets.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work cooperatively and constructively with cross-functional teams, community-based organizations, title companies, and referral partners.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), and adhere to Midland States Bank's Compliance Policy.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field preferred. 1+ years experience in real estate and/or mortgage. Ability to obtain NMLS State License or Federal NMLS Registration.
  • Skills and Competencies: Strong entrepreneurial and business development/sales experience/skills. Knowledge of FHA, FNMA, and FHLMS underwriting guidelines. Business acumen and judgment. Needs analysis skills. Interpersonal/Persuasive/Influencing and negotiation skills. Business insight, cultivates innovation, drives results, makes sound decisions, being a brand champion, collaborates, communicates effectively, customer focus, being authentic, emotional intelligence, self-development, being flexible and adaptable.
