Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Services Manager I to join our team at the State of California. This is a full-time, permanent position in the Elections Division, where you will play a critical role in planning, organizing, and directing activities to ensure the smooth operation of our programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage staff in the performance of critical and complex work, including overseeing the Elections Division's workflow and ensuring the completion of program activities.
  • Oversee, coordinate, and maintain efficient workflow while managing the budget, contracts, personnel, records retention, and space management of assigned program areas.
  • Manage staff in the performance of complex program work related to the help desk and customer service of the statewide voter registration system, VoteCal.
  • Develop, mentor, and motivate staff, possessing strong interpersonal supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Exercise good judgment and demonstrate an aptitude for working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to appropriately apply current laws, rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong critical thinking, writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to develop, mentor, and motivate staff, possessing strong interpersonal supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Knowledgeable of modern office methods and equipment, including experience with personal computers utilizing Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
