Job Summary
The primary goal of this role is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the physician team at EXCELSIOR ORTHOPAEDICS GROUP. As a Medical Scribe, you will work closely with physicians and/or physician assistants or nurse practitioners to perform administrative tasks such as EMR documentation, chart preparation, and schedule efficiency. You will also identify overall best practices for process improvement, requiring anticipation of physician needs, discretion, tactfulness, and modest performance of duties to avoid distracting medical staff from patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures as they are being performed by the physician, including but not limited to:
Patient medical history and physical exam.
Procedures and treatments performed by healthcare professionals, including nurses and physician assistants.
Patient education and explanations of risks and benefits.
Physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and instructions for patient or family members for self-care and follow-up.
Prepare referral letters as directed by the physician.
Ensure documentation is accurate, complete, and consistent with legal, ethical, and practice protocols and standards.
Work closely with physician assistants and may be required to provide scribing support as needed.
Work closely with multiple departments/parties to coordinate schedule availability to ensure balance of office and surgery time scheduled.
Handle additional duties as required.
Qualifications
Requirements and Qualifications
Minimum 2 years scribing or medical office experience preferred.
Medent / EMR experience preferred.
HS Diploma required.
Physical Demands
Position requires manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Involves standing and walking.
Team member will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Normal visual acuity and hearing are required.
