The College of New Caledonia is seeking a full-time instructor to teach in the Natural Resources and Forest Technology program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in applied, field-based forest resource technology and be able to conduct applied research for industry, government, and Aboriginal peoples in forest-based natural resources.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in forestry and natural resource management with a focus on field-based technical abilities and statistical analysis.
- Conduct applied research in the natural resource sector and collaborate with industry, government, and Aboriginal peoples.
- Develop and maintain curriculum to ensure relevance and effectiveness in preparing students for careers in forestry and natural resource management.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to students in the program.
- Stay current with industry developments and best practices in forestry and natural resource management.
- A minimum of a Master's degree in forestry or natural resource management or equivalent.
- Strong field-based technical abilities and extensive forestry experience that specifically includes forest measurements and associated statistical analysis.
- Teaching experience at the post-secondary level or in adult learning environments.
- Registered as a Registered Professional Forester.
- Experience with applied research in the natural resource sector.
- Physically able to conduct instructional duties in a forest setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- At least 5 years of experience working in the forest sector.
- Active in the natural resource management community.
- Supervisory experience.
- Capability in Geographic Information Systems and adoption of new technology in forestry.
The successful candidate will be part of a team actively engaged in contributing to and accomplishing the vision, mission, and goals of the College of New Caledonia and in supporting the aspirations and needs of our students and communities.
Hiring criteria shall include professional qualifications, professional experience, teaching experience, college contributions, community awareness, and personal attributes so far as they are applicable to the job classification in question.
Salary: $73,879 - $87,659 commensurate with qualifications and relevant experience.
