Job Description:

As a Patient Care Specialist in our Rehab Unit, you will play a vital role in supporting the personal needs and comfort of patients. You will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

The key responsibilities of this role include:

- Providing general patient care and performing routine treatments and procedures as directed by the Registered Nurse.

- Assisting with personal hygiene to promote patients' comfort and well-being.

- Checking and recording intake and output as ordered.

- Taking and recording patients' vital signs and other measurements as indicated.

- Giving enemas, reinforcing simple non-sterile dressings, applying binders, collecting specimens, applying heat or cold devices, and performing other routine tasks.

- Assisting the RN in caring for seriously ill patients or in complicated treatments or procedures.

- Maintaining a safe and clean environment with well-stocked supplies and functioning equipment.

- Recording all care provided and significant information accurately and completely in patients' medical records.

- Observing assigned patients and reporting any patient care problems, changes in patient condition, or unexpected occurrences to the RN/Team Leader.

- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in specialty areas through attending seminars and inservices.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

- Vocational/Technical training and more than six months of job-related experience or equivalent.

- A valid RI State Nursing Assistant license.
