Position Overview:
The University of Alaska is seeking a dedicated Student Marketing Assistant to contribute to the creation and dissemination of marketing materials, enhance our social media engagement, and support communication strategies for career development initiatives.

Role Summary:
This position requires an organized student leader with excellent communication abilities to further the marketing objectives of the department. Responsibilities include project management, digital marketing efforts, staffing events on campus, and fostering connections between students and Career Services.

- A positive mindset, eagerness to learn, and a collaborative approach.
- A foundational understanding of marketing and communication principles or a keen interest in these areas.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage tasks effectively.
- Proficient written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage positively with students, staff, and employers.
- Intermediate experience with social media platforms, particularly Facebook and Instagram.

Skills and Abilities:
The ideal candidate will be:
- Social media proficient, organized, approachable, and detail-oriented.
- Knowledgeable about Alaska Native organizations and the official languages of Alaska.
- Capable of professional and engaging communication with a diverse audience.
- Trustworthy in handling confidential information ethically.
- Motivated to learn and contribute to the career development of fellow students.
- Able to problem-solve and adapt to provide exceptional customer service.

Technical Proficiency:
Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva, Illustrator) is essential, along with a commitment to producing high-quality design work. Candidates should also be comfortable using Google applications (Gmail, Google Drive, Google Docs) and be willing to learn new software.

Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in a minimum of 6 credit hours with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.

Compensation Details:
New hires will be compensated according to the UA student salary schedule, reflecting their education and experience. This position is grant-funded, offering a rate of $15/hour.
