Job Title: Director of Emerging Partnerships

Job Summary:

The Director of Emerging Partnerships and Sponsorship is a key member of the Corporate Partnerships team at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This role is responsible for identifying, cultivating, and managing a portfolio of companies to generate philanthropic revenue in support of institutional priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts to proactively build a pipeline of new corporate partners through sponsorship and industry engagement aligned with institutional priorities.
  • Work with corporate contacts to identify and reach top decision makers, make connections with executives in the position to direct corporate philanthropic decisions, and collaborate with marketing and community engagement teams to direct marketing or employee participation in events.
  • Responsible for reaching sponsorship in-kind and cash revenue goals of $2.5 million+ annually, working closely with Corporate Partnerships colleagues and Jimmy Fund event staff to craft successful sponsorship strategies.
  • Provide expertise and collaborate with Jimmy Fund and Philanthropy Marketing teams to evaluate and package sponsorships and programs to maximize revenues.
  • Cultivate new cause marketing partnerships, campaigns, and relationships, and renew and identify new event sponsors.
  • Steward relationships with corporate donors (C-suite executives, Corporate Vice Presidents, Marketing Directors, etc.) to further Dana-Farber Cancer Institute's and the Jimmy Fund's relationships with them and to solidify and grow assigned prospects and programs.
  • Work with Fiscal & Regulatory Management team to ensure proper state and federal compliance procedures.
  • Conduct phone calls, virtual meetings, face-to-face visits, effective solicitations, and related relationship-building outreach with corporate prospects.
  • Prepare letters, letters of intent, proposals, reports, acknowledgements, briefings, and donor correspondence for Dana-Farber and volunteer leadership as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years' relevant work experience in corporate fundraising or sponsorship.
  • Experience in consumer marketing, brand marketing, or consumer sales helpful.
  • Familiarity with the complexities of academic medical and healthcare systems a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a complex and dynamic culture.
  • Strong ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with a strong history of meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Experience working successfully with a variety of constituencies, including donors, trustees, volunteers, vendors, and staff at all levels, including senior faculty and executive leadership.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and development databases.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Excellent problem-solving and reasoning skills.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with colleagues in Division of Philanthropy in creating and implementing solicitation strategies.
  • Must exercise significant judgment and maintain a high degree of confidentiality among staff, patients, prospects, and donors.
  • Be seen as a leader and resource with regards to sponsorship.
  • Willingness to travel, primarily local travel.
  • Experience with diverse donors a plus.

Work Environment:

This position is considered remote, 0-1 days onsite at 10 Brookline Place, Brookline, MA each week. Some evening and weekend work may be required during peak times. Some local travel primarily in MA.
