Position Summary

We are in search of a motivated Continuous Improvement Engineer to become a vital part of our Powertrain & Electronics Manufacturing Engineering team. This role focuses on recognizing and executing strategies to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency within our production lines. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives within a manufacturing environment, alongside a passion for mentorship and the ability to engage effectively with learners on the production floor.

Key Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the implementation of lean manufacturing principles, including training for team members.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement across manufacturing lines to enhance safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency.
  • Apply lean practices to various processes, including production planning, warehousing, material flow, and assembly.
  • Create Value Stream Maps to pinpoint waste and identify areas for improvement.
  • Support the establishment and execution of Floor Management Development Systems in collaboration with shop floor leadership.
  • Conduct training sessions using established curricula.
  • Perform operational efficiency assessments and organize kaizen events based on real-world data.
  • Implement 5S methodologies throughout manufacturing areas in partnership with local leadership.
  • Demonstrate the benefits of single-piece flow and just-in-time methods through workshops and simulations.
  • Quantitatively illustrate how lean principles contribute to reduced lead times, enhanced efficiency, and improved quality.
  • Collaborate with department heads to coordinate training schedules and address specific team needs.
  • Work closely with the Learning & Development team to stay informed on training material updates.
  • Maintain knowledge of training methodologies and the company's evolving products and services.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of Toyota production system principles through collaboration with our partners.
  • Engage in professional development to refine training delivery skills.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Continuous Improvement.
  • Knowledge and experience with Toyota Production System or lean production methodologies.
  • Experience in technical training, preferably in aerospace maintenance or manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training software.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to various company locations.
Preferred Skills
  • Exceptional public speaking and presentation abilities.
  • Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Capability to adapt to diverse learning styles and requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is a plus.

Compensation Overview

Compensation at Joby includes a combination of base salary and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base salary for this position is competitive and will be determined based on relevant knowledge, skills, and experience.
