Mental Health Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Tech to join our team at McLean Hospital. As a Mental Health Tech, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and participating in therapeutic milieu.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and participate in therapeutic milieu under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
- Assist the RN in providing direct patient care and ensure accurate and timely documentation of AFS, progress notes, and observation sheets.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients, maintaining professional boundaries and promoting a safe and supportive environment.
- Participate in patient rounds or teams and complete patient care assignments as required.
- Identify patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis and utilize non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situations.
- Communicate changes in patient status to the RN and follow Standards of Care and protocols for assigned patients.
- Remain awake and alert at all times while on the job and perform Point of Care testing (POC) as required.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prefer two years of college plus one year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.
- Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in collaboration with others.
- Previous experience in direct patient care preferred.
