About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Tech to join our team at McLean Hospital. As a Mental Health Tech, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and participating in therapeutic milieu.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and participate in therapeutic milieu
  • Assist the Registered Nurse in providing direct patient care
  • Accurately and timely document AFS, progress notes, and observation sheets
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients and maintain professional boundaries
  • Participate in patient rounds or teams
  • Complete patient care assignments
  • Identify patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis and utilize non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situations
  • Intervene in managing complex patient situations and patient schedules, utilizing department policies and procedures
  • Communicate changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse
  • Follow Standards of Care and protocols for assigned patients
  • Remain awake and alert at all times while on the job
  • Perform Point of Care testing (POC)
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Prefer two years of college plus one year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting
  • Licensure: N/A
  • Skills: Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in collaboration with others
  • Experience: Previous experience in direct patient care preferred
