Mental Health Specialist

McLean Hospital is a leading psychiatric hospital committed to providing high-quality mental health services in the Boston area and beyond. As a Mental Health Tech, you will play a vital role in our multidisciplinary team, working with patients and staff to provide exceptional care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and participate in therapeutic milieu under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Assist the RN in providing direct patient care and ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient information.
- Establish therapeutic relationships with patients, maintaining professional boundaries and promoting a safe and supportive environment.
- Participate in patient rounds and teams, identifying patient behaviors that contribute to crisis situations and utilizing de-escalation techniques.
- Communicate changes in patient status to the RN and follow established Nursing policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Work effectively in the therapeutic milieu, participating in planning and implementation of patient groups and providing recreation and other off-hall activities as needed.
- Maintain a commitment to professional growth and competency, completing mandatory in-service requirements and identifying areas for professional development.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Prefer two years of college plus one year of clinical experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.
- Verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work in collaboration with others.
