Overview

The Credentialing Coordinator at AHMC HealthCare is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the credentialing process for medical staff and allied health professionals. This includes managing the intake of new applications, processing reappointments, and handling resignations. The Coordinator ensures that all privilege lists are current and serves as the primary contact for the physician database management. Additionally, this role plays a crucial part in the Credentials Committee and the Interdisciplinary Practice Committee, preparing necessary documentation for physician evaluations and actively participating in accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS/JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
 A Bachelor's degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
 Previous experience in credentialing and privileging is essential.
 Competence in writing meeting summaries and transcribing minutes is required.
 Familiarity with credentialing databases is advantageous.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE:
 No specific certifications are mandatory; however, CPCS (Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist) is preferred.

OTHER SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:
 Must be detail-oriented with the ability to manage extensive paperwork accurately.
 Capability to handle a high volume of credential files while adhering to strict deadlines.
 Commitment to staying informed about evolving regulatory standards.
 Strong interpersonal skills are necessary.
 Knowledge of medical terminology is highly beneficial.

POSITION SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Oversee the credentialing and onboarding processes for medical staff and allied health professionals, including the management of new applicants, reappointments, temporary privileges, and resignations.
2. Act as a super-user and trainer for the physician database, liaising with the help desk as required and designing report filters and outputs.
3. Organize monthly Credentials Committee and Interdisciplinary Practice Committee meetings, as well as quarterly departmental meetings, which includes preparing agenda packets, securing physician reviewers, documenting minutes, and following up on unresolved issues.
4. Compile and present monthly reports for the hospital board.
5. Maintain and update all privilege lists for medical staff and allied health professionals.

6. Monitor the proctoring of physicians and allied health professionals, ensuring timely follow-up on any outstanding issues.
7. Stay informed about the JCAHO credentialing and privileging processes.
8. Ensure that credential files are organized, complete, and ready for surveys.
9. Secure all necessary documentation for the credentialing of medical staff and allied health professionals, with diligent follow-up on any outstanding items.
10. Gather required credentialing quality assurance information from various departments within the organization.
