Job SummaryWe are looking for a detail-oriented and organized individual to provide critical inspection services on heavy civil construction sites. As a Construction Inspector with RK&K, you will apply your knowledge of construction, safety, quality, and materials to ensure compliance with safety regulations and provide technical evaluation and sound solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Provide construction management support, including inspection and monitoring of construction structures
- Solve complex problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
- Monitor the activities of other Inspectors
- Communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors
- Interface with clients, state and federal agencies, and other engineering disciplines on construction projects
- Recordkeeping and reporting as required
- Two (2) years of relevant experience in materials, standards, and specifications related to state highway projects and facilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently on small construction projects
- Ability to pass Criminal History Background Check (CHBC)
- Acceptable driving record
- High School Diploma or GED
- Inspection experience including roadway, asphalt, concrete, pavement markings, structure and bridge construction methods
- VDOT and other local public agency experience desired
- VDOT Material Certifications are a plus (Asphalt, Concrete, Pavement Marking, Soils, Intermediate Traffic Control Certified, etc.)
- Associate or bachelor's in engineering or similar field of study
