Job Overview

The Construction Superintendent plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful execution of commercial or residential construction projects. Reporting to the project team, this individual is responsible for coordinating subcontractors, materials, and equipment to meet project specifications, schedules, and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain the master project schedule, preparing a detailed 2-week lookahead schedule to support overall project objectives.
  • Conduct preconstruction meetings with major subcontractors and Chesapeake's project management team, utilizing a standard template for the agenda.
  • Proactively schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors to ensure timely completion, collaborating with the project team to identify and mitigate potential delays.
  • Ensure subcontractors are executing the contracted scope of work, adhering to project documents and quality control standards.
  • Collaborate with Chesapeake's Safety Department to develop and implement a jobsite-specific safety plan, adhering to the company's safety policy and required documentation.
  • Coordinate and monitor daily jobsite activities, assisting in future planning and ensuring the job site remains clean and organized.
  • Perform quality control duties, inspecting and tracking material deliveries and installation details to meet project documents.
  • Identify conflicts in construction documents and address with the appropriate parties or communicate with senior project leadership for resolution.
  • Schedule and run weekly subcontractor preconstruction meetings, attending Chesapeake Superintendent quarterly meetings.
  • Prepare and submit RFIs, including proposed solutions, and review and understand approved material submittals.
  • Ensure subcontractors have corrected any deficiencies identified by the project team, coordinating required inspections with local jurisdictions and third-party inspectors.
  • Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion, training and mentoring Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and Laborers.

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of multifamily/commercial construction experience in a construction management or similar position, with knowledge of all construction trades.
  • Familiarity with construction management and office productivity software, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, Procore, Microsoft Teams, or other web-based or mobile document and project management solutions.
  • Possess a valid Driver's license to travel to assigned jobsites, maintaining OSHA 30, First Aid, and CPR Certification.
