Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Radiation Effects Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. As a Radiation Effects Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and analyzing complex electronic products for space systems. You will perform radiation effects analysis, shielding analysis, survivability analysis, and radiation analysis reporting. You will also simulate electronic components relative to space radiation effects and develop electronic protection strategies.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct radiation analysis for satellite payload systems
  • Develop test plans and test reports for radiation testing of electronic components
  • Use radiation analysis tools such as NOVICE, SPENVIS, and CREME96 to predict radiation effects
  • Analyze radiation effects on material degradation
  • Interface with multiple disciplines to ensure compliance with radiation requirements
  • Prepare and present technical reports for internal and external customers
  • Present radiation requirements and compliance in program meetings and design reviews
  • Analyze Single Event Effects, Burnouts, Latchups, Upsets, and Transients in electronic circuits
  • Propose circuit design mitigations to reduce or eliminate risk of Single Event Effects failure
  • Perform Total Ionizing Dose analysis
  • Analyze Displacement Damage Dose impact on optoelectronics
  • Analyze Deep Charging applied to spacecraft component boxes and external harnesses
  • Develop spacecraft radiation shielding and modeling
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or closely related technical discipline
  • 5-8 years of experience in Radiation Effects Engineering
  • Knowledge of physics associated with radiation effects in semiconductor devices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • U.S. Citizenship with active or current Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility
  • Outstanding time-management and multi-tasking skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Physics, or closely related technical discipline
  • Experience with radiation tools such as NOVICE, AE9AP9, CRÈME, SPENVIS, etc.
  • CAD modeling experience with Creo Parametric
