Job Title: Principal/Sr. Principal Systems Engineer

Northrop Grumman is seeking a highly skilled Principal or Senior Principal Systems Engineer to join our team in Dulles, VA. As a key member of our Mission Integration program, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of complex systems and ensuring the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and review requirements, verification plans, and architecture at all levels of the system
  • Ensure the integration of complex design elements across multiple teams and vendors
  • Coordinate with all levels of the program to ensure a comprehensive system design
  • Provide subject matter expertise for the Thread to the program
  • Brief program leadership, customers, and stakeholders on the Thread
  • Engage in formal and informal mentoring to support knowledge transfer and talent development

Requirements:

  • Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access
  • Principal Engineer Systems: BS degree in Engineering or related technical field and 5 years of applicable experience, or an MS Degree and 3 years of applicable experience
  • Senior Principal Engineer Systems: Bachelors in Engineering, Physics, or related STEM Degree with 9 years of experience in a related engineering field such as mechanical, electrical, aerospace and/or operations
  • Strong technical background in orbital mechanics/astrodynamics
  • Experience in requirements management, system architecture development, and CONOPs
  • Experience in RPO mission design and satellite ground software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience coordinating the efforts of diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency in any modeling and simulation tools: Cameo, STK, Matlab, AFSIM, Python
  • Have an extensive knowledge of different astrodynamic coordinate frames such as ECI and RIC
