POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

The primary responsibility of the Fleet Equipment Mechanic at Moss is to ensure that all machinery and vehicles are in optimal working condition. The ideal candidate will possess the skills to diagnose issues using diagnostic tools and execute cost-effective repairs safely and promptly. This role requires the ability to conduct preventative maintenance and address on-site equipment failures as scheduled by the Solar Equipment Coordinator or Fleet Equipment Manager. Effective communication and coordination with Asset Management Team members, job sites, and vendors are essential.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance services on construction machinery.
  • Respond promptly to service requests and perform repairs or maintenance as scheduled with the Equipment Coordinator or Equipment Manager.
  • Collaborate with the Equipment Coordinator or Equipment Manager to troubleshoot service issues and work with external service vendors to resolve problems.
  • Maintain accurate records of services performed and ensure that all work orders are completed using maintenance software to confirm equipment safety and readiness for job sites.
  • Demonstrate welding and burning skills.
  • Complete electronic work orders and submit them daily.
  • Adhere to safety protocols to protect oneself, colleagues, equipment, and surrounding property in accordance with Moss Safety Guidelines and Policies.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree in a Heavy Equipment Program is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the construction industry is necessary.
  • Must maintain a DOT physical for operating a commercial service vehicle; a CDL is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficient knowledge of hydraulic systems is essential.
  • Ability to work on hydraulic and air brake systems is required.
  • Capability to troubleshoot electrical issues is necessary.
  • Basic understanding and diagnostic skills for diesel engines are required.
  • Experience with hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs is a must.
  • Certifications or specific training in the following areas are advantageous:
    • Safety
    • Brakes (Hydraulic and Air)
    • Engine (Gas and Diesel)
    • Transmissions
    • Troubleshooting
    • Suspension Systems
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel) are necessary.
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and stay overnight as required.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions is essential.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to prioritize workload and daily tasks effectively.
