Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, Law Enforcement Officers engage in various law enforcement duties aimed at deterring crime, preserving order, and apprehending offenders. Most officers are assigned to patrol duties, while others may work in specialized areas such as investigations, community outreach, or administrative functions. Officers may be required to respond to critical incidents as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of law enforcement experience and must be an active sworn peace officer with California POST Certification, or be a graduate or current student of a California Basic Police Academy.

Experience and Education
To qualify, candidates must meet the following criteria:
  • Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent;
  • For Academy Graduates: Must be within 30 days of graduation from a California Basic P.O.S.T. Police Academy;
  • For Lateral Candidates: At least twelve months of active service as a sworn California Peace Officer;
  • Must be at least 21 years of age at the time of appointment;
  • Possession of a valid California driver's license or ability to obtain one.

Physical Requirements
Officers in this role must be capable of lifting and carrying individuals and heavy objects, and may be exposed to various weather conditions.
