QUALIFICATIONS
License /Certification

Required:
Licensed CA Physician Assistant

Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration

BLS


Graduation from a PA program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (or approved predecessor agencies); or certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Prior to employment, HR must obtain clearance from the KH Medical Staff office confirming that the medical staff credentialing process is complete.

Bilingual candidates are preferred.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential


Gather a comprehensive health history, including but not limited to obstetric, gynecologic, contraceptive, medical, surgical, family health, and psychosocial aspects, and document findings accurately and succinctly.


Conduct appropriate general examinations, diagnostic tests, and other specialized procedures as indicated by patient history and complaints, adhering to established protocols.

Provide specialized and advanced practice services within the scope of training.

Deliver relevant patient education and instruction, which may encompass medication information, disease education, health promotion, care instructions, etc.


Timely follow-up on all abnormal findings, respond to patient clinical needs, and refer to other providers as necessary.

Document all information regarding the client's examination and treatment plans within the electronic medical record, ensuring chart review meets quality improvement standards. Complete timely chart documentation.

Consult with the assigned supervising physician when necessary and review complex cases in accordance with appropriate protocols (e.g., NP protocols or PA service agreement) as needed.

Pursue and complete ongoing, high-level continuing medical education activities. Share new clinical practice updates or information with the APP team and clinical leadership.

Attend APP and clinical site meetings to stay current with organizational communication and priorities. Engage in organizational quality improvement initiatives and provide feedback on clinical processes.

Coordinate clinic coverage with other providers and provide backup coverage as needed.

Deliver care within a team-based, patient-centered approach, involving patients and their families in the decision-making process regarding their care. Utilize care team members effectively (e.g., pharmacy, care coordinators, dieticians, etc.).

Employ evidence-based practice guidelines and resources for clinical practice.

Additional

Collaborate with all members of the care team and support staff. Act as a clinical team leader for safety, training, and support of staff as indicated.


Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served in the assigned unit or work area.

Be knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age-specific needs. Effectively communicate and care for patients and families as reflected in the Plan for Provision of Care.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range
$70.09 -$105.14
