Responsibilities:

* Provide patients with assistance in performing daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming.
* Assist with preparing patients for meals, snacks, and liquids, and assist with feeding as needed.
* Measure and record patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and respiration.
* Collect and process patient specimens, such as urine, feces, and sputum.
* Report any changes in patient condition, treatment results, or patient/family concerns to the registered professional nurse.

*Perform various diagnostic tests and treatments, such as applying dressings, discontinuing IV therapies, and performing EKGs, under the supervision of a registered nurse.

* Participate in the healthcare team's responsibility to ensure patient safety.

* Respond to patient call bells and emergency lights.

* Recognize and correct unsafe acts or conditions, and report them as necessary.

* Use side rails, restraints, and other equipment to position patients safely.

* Respond to fires, evacuations, and internal/external emergencies.

* Function effectively within the organizational structure.

* Accept assignments and seek clarification as needed.

* Carry out assignments and report patient care observations to the RN regularly.

* Participate as an integral part of the nursing team in assuming additional duties and responsibilities.

* Maintain competence by attending in-service education programs.

Requirements:

* High School degree or equivalent required.
* Completion of a Nursing Assistant Course.
* Heart Saver Certification preferred.
* Minimum two years of direct patient care experience.
* Ability to communicate effectively.
