Job Description

Assists patients in obtaining the maximum level of independence in activities of daily living. Performs direct/indirect nursing procedures and technical/laboratory activities as appropriate and in accordance with Hospital policies and procedures.

Job Responsibility

* * Administers nursing care to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.
* Provides hygienic care to patients assigned and oversees/assists with activities of daily living; performs assigned treatments and procedures
* Takes vital signs of patients assigned and reports values to nurse in charge.
* Reports observations and unusual conditions of patients to registered nurse.
* Prepares patients for meals and helps feed them as assigned.
* Provides constant observation for patients requiring increased security to prevent harmful behavior.
* Follows principles of infection control and patient safety.
* Carefully assists patient to wheelchair or stretcher and transports, as needed.
* Collects required specimens as directed; e.g., urine, feces, sputum.


* * Maintains the environment of patients.
* Assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment in patient's room
* Participates in ensuring that work areas are clean.
* Replenishes supplies as necessary.


* * Functions effectively within the organizational structure.
* Accepts assignment, seeks clarification as needed, and carries out assignment.
* Reports patient care observations and findings to RN regularly
* Participates as an integral part of the nursing team in assuming additional duties and responsibilities.
* Maintains competence by attending in-service education programs.


* Performs related duties, as required.

Job Qualification

* High School Diploma or equivalent, required
* Successful completion of a Nurse Assistant Program, preferred.
* Minimum of one (1) year of experience, preferred.
