Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Medical Records Clerk to join our team at Cumberland River Behavioral Health, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing administrative support to our residential and IOP programs, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of client files, and maintaining a high level of customer service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct the overall operation of designated programs
  • Assist in policy, procedure, and system development and implementation for the overall operation of the intake office
  • Answer telephone calls in a polite and helpful manner, transferring calls to appropriate staff members as needed
  • Screen potential consumers of services using the phone screening sheet
  • Instruct new admissions on necessary documentation for the first appointment
  • Schedule appointments for clinicians, nurse practitioners, and psychiatrists according to agency policy
  • Greet consumers in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Perform general clerical duties, including photocopying, faxing, mailing, and filing
  • Place reminder calls to consumers scheduled for the next day
  • Maintain the central appointment book for all clinicians, including the psychiatrist and nurse practitioner
  • Ensure the accuracy, content, and completeness of new client files
  • Refrain from assuming duties unrelated to or interfering with the responsibilities of the position
  • Respond to emergency situations in a timely manner
  • Maintain complete and accurate records for sample medication and storage
  • Demonstrate the ability to work effectively with other team members and independently when necessary
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Computer and typing skills
  • Organization skills
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and compassion when problem-solving, handling conflict, or in a crisis situation
  • Ability to complete record-keeping in a timely fashion
  • Ability to get along with diverse personalities and maintain effective working relationships
  • Ability to work well with people of all races, backgrounds, and needs
Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions, may be off-site from the normal office location, or placed at a Residential Program.

The noise level in the work environment is mild to moderate.
